Silly Sally

Silly Sally
Would dilly dally.
She was always the last one in line.
When people would say,
"How can you be that way?"
Sally said, "Because I like to take my time."
"When I run a race
There's a smile on my face,
Because, I like to enjoy the view."
"As I run along
I'll sing a song,
Then I slow down, that's just what I do."
"There are so many things
That nature brings;
To see them, I just can't wait."
"So, to slow right down,
And look around,
I really don't mind being late.

Being Good Is Hard

Being Good Is Hard

I’m trying to do what’s right;

Be nice to my brother and sister,

Pick up all my toys,

And try not to bother or pester,

Be polite to people,

And do things in a proper way.

But being good is hard.

I know, I tried it yesterday.

Into The Future

Into The Future

I can gaze into the future

And peer into the past

And I know that what I gaze upon

Is destined not to last

So as I leave today

And start in towards tomorrow

May my touch provide much joy

And avoid the sting of sorrow

Waterfall

Waterfall

(A boy talks to the waterfall)

Oh, Waterfall,
Waterfall,
How majestic is your view,
How tall you are,

How far you fall.
Does anyone care for you?

. . . . . . . . . .

(The Waterfall answers)

Yes, my friend,
Oh, my friend.
There is someone close by.

Near they are,
And care they do.
I’m watched with an eagle eye.

Paul Revere's Bike

Paul Revere's Bike

What if Paul Revere
On the night of his famous deed,
Had to ride a bike,
Instead of his faithful steed?

This is what might have happened,
That night in 1775,
If Paul’s horse had been sick,
And a bike was all he had to ride.

Well, the British were coming to town,
They were going to take our land,
But Paul Revere and his friends
Had devised a sneaky plan.

Paul would get a signal,
They had it all planned out.
They’d shine a light from the Old North Church,
So they wouldn’t have to shout.

Then a signal through the darkness came,
Two lights could be seen.
This told Paul Revere,
The British were coming by sea.

Now was the time for Paul Revere,
To make his famous ride,
Speeding from town to town,
Alarming the country side.

He grabbed up his coat and cape,
And put on his three cornered hat,
Then he raced through the door,
To where his bike was at.

But Paul just stood there staring,
He was befuddled by the sight,
Because poor old Paul Revere
Didn’t know how to ride a bike.

Billy Bonebreaked

Billy Bonebreaker is my name,

And breaking bones seems my thing.

Like yesterday noon, in that tree,

When I fell out, I broke my knee.

Or the day before, on that fence,

I haven’t walked right ever since.

Or, when I jumped into that pool,

The water was gone. That was not cool.

And then I climbed up on that boulder,

I slipped and tripped, and broke my shoulder.

Then, that time I ran in sand,

Fell flat on my face, and broke my hand.

Or when I swung upon that rope,

It came undone; two ribs I broke.

Now, fourteen bones I have broken;

From head to toe. Fourteen. No Joken!

But, I’ve finally stopped breaking bones at last,

Because now I’m in a full body cast.

Walk With Me While I Grow Older

Walk with me - While I grow older,
Hold my hand, - And brace my shoulder.
The strength of your arm - Will steady my pace
As I’m nearing the end - Of this amazing race.
And if you will listen, - While I talk,
I’ll tell you secrets - As we walk.
So listen carefully, - As I speak,
Cuz the things I’ve learned - Are treasures to keep.
Now, life’s goes up, - And life goes down,
But life gives diamonds - If you’ll look around.
Like, watching a kitten - Chase a pup,
And watching your children - As they grow up.
And do the things - You say you’ll do,
So that your friends - Can depend on you.
And silver and gold, - I have learned,
Are not as important - As the things you’ve earned.
And take the time - To draw and sing,
And do a dance - Every spring.
Learn to be gentle, - And share your cup,
And hold out your hand - To help someone up.
And learn from today - A better tomorrow,
And learn that joy - Will follow sorrow.

So, walk with me - While I grow older,
As my days grow short - And the air grows colder.
And ...
If you remember my words, - As YOU grow older,
I’ll always be here, - Looking over your shoulder.

Becoming

 Becoming

There are things to become
That you can learn,
And treasures of knowledge
That you can earn.

If you just take the time
To learn, you’ll see
That you can become
What you want to be.

Why, you can go
To the Ocean’s floor,
In a deep sea dive;
If you lean to explore.

Or, you can dig
And find old bones,
If you learn just where
The Dinos roamed.

Or, you can go
And stand on Mars,
If you learn to fly
Among the stars.

Or, you can learn
To sing on stage,
And then receive
A handsome wage.

For, the more you learn,
The more you know,
And the more you learn,
The more you grow.

So, take the time
And learn what you should
But, as you learn to become,
Become something good.

Toilet Trees

Toilet Trees

I’ve used up all the toothpaste,
And the paper cups are all gone.
My tooth brush is looking cruddy,
And I have no hair gel to put on.

My shower is looking dingy,
And the floor has spots of goo.
The toilet paper is all used up,
So I don't know what I'm going to do.

Now, my Mom just said “Come on,”
Billy, we’re going to the store.
We’re going to get some supplies,
And come back and clean your floor.”

But, when we finally got to the store
I nearly fell to my knees,
Because the first thing that my Mom asked was,
“Where do you keep your Toilet Trees?”

My Pet Monster Fred

MY PET MONSTER FRED

I have a pet monster
Who I’ve named Fred.
He’s made from spare monster parts
From his toes up to his head.

I found him in a garage sale,
I paid a whole buck 35.
He was stuffed in an old basket,
And just barely alive.

I brought him home to my bedroom,
Washed off all the goop.
I put him in my bed for a week,
And fed him monster soup.

Now he sits guarding my room,
In a nest at the foot of my bed.
He scares all the other monsters away,

He’s my pet monster Fred.

Road Warrior

Grandma’s awful - Behind the wheel;
Her horn will blow, - And her tires will squeal,

Her voice gets loud - As the light turns “GO”,
And she says such words, - She should not know.

She rolls down the window - All the way,
And loudly shouts, - “Get out of my way!”

“You’ll dent my fender, - Or scratch my door,
Or break a window, - Or so much more.”

“If I just had - A bigger car,
They’d have more respect, - More respect by far.”

Now, Grandma’s finally - Calmed right down,
Because she bought a tank - To drive around town.

So, when you see her, - With gray hair flying,
Don’t try to out run her. - There’s no use trying.

Don’t get in her way, -And don’t make fun,
Cuz Grandmas tank’s - Got a great big gun.

Epilogue :

There’s Grandma - Stopped at the light,
And there’s not another - Vehicle in sight.

Everybody knows - To stay out of her way

Or she’ll roll right over you - And then say, “Have a nice day.”

The Laugh

Grab your stomach

Fall on the ground

Tears in your eyes

Stomp up and down

Can’t catch your breath

Gasping for air

Splitting your sides

Thrashing your hair

A really good laugh

Can knock you down.

Now, that’s the kind of laugh

Eagles on the Waves

There's an angry storm

Raging far out to sea.

It’s whipping up the water,

Giving it plenty of energy.

Soon, large waves will be thrashing,

And flying towards the land,

Like eagles on the waves,

Pounding onto the sand.

So keep a watchful eye out,

When the sea does roar,

You might just see an eagle

Racing towards the shore.

The Rainbow Makers

Where do rainbows come from?
Listen and you will see.
They come from a land on the edge of time,
Near the shores of the Unicorn Sea.

Here is where the Rainbow Makers live,
Painting rainbows in the air,
Painting with enchanted brushes,
Gathering colors from everywhere.

They send us out their rainbows,
Wrapping them in clouds,
Knowing that the colors they use
Will please the watching crowds.

They get Greens from an Evergreen Forest,
And Yellows from an African Lea,
Purples from the Painted Desert,
And Blues from the Deep Blue Sea,

Violets from Kilimanjaro,
And Oranges from the Barrier Reef,
Reds from the Amazon Rain Forest.
These are the colors they need.
